Design Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced engineering principles to design, develop, and test downhole tools and products for the oil and gas industry.
• Drive design improvements for existing products and lead research and development for new products.
• Perform complex engineering analysis, including linear and non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Translate engineering concepts into production-ready parts and assemblies using design for manufacturability principles.
• Conduct lab and field testing involving high mechanical loads, pressures, temperatures, and hazardous fluids.
• Prepare technical and test reports to summarize results and provide recommendations for product quality improvements.
• Mentor and collaborate with engineers, designers, and technicians while managing multiple projects, schedules, and budgets.
• Contribute to intellectual property development, including the pursuit of patents.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5-7+ years of relevant engineering experience, specifically with downhole tools in the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a strong preference for SolidWorks.
• Proficiency in ABAQUS or similar Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
• Strong knowledge of steel metallurgy, strength of materials, and the stress-strain behaviors of metals, elastomers, and plastics.
• Working knowledge of industry standards including API, ISO, and ASME.
• Ability to create and review detailed technical drawings.
