Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Drive part design and redesign across aerospace and defense applications including propulsion, thermal management, and fluid systems
• Rethink part design from first principles using additive manufacturing to enable new geometries and consolidated assemblies
• Develop and evaluate design concepts considering materials, tolerances, and structural behavior
• Work with internal engineering and operations teams to drive feasibility and refine concepts
• Engage with customer engineering teams to understand requirements and present design solutions
• Identify new application spaces for Freeform's technology

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• 3+ years of experience in a hands-on engineering role within aerospace, defense, or high-performance industries
• Experience designing or analyzing propulsion, thermal, fluid, or turbomachinery systems
• Systems-level understanding of complex mechanical hardware

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with metal 3D printing or design for additive manufacturing (DFAM)
• Experience carrying hardware through development, qualification, and production ramp
• Strong first-principles reasoning and ability to operate in ambiguous environments
