Design Engineer

At Applied Labs, we’re building the platform for reliable AI agents that automate complex work. We are primarily an in-person company based in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Own the Applied Labs web and brand surfaces from concept to production, including marketing site, landing pages, and interactive storytelling
• Design and build directly in code, translating high-fidelity design into production-quality UI
• Create reusable components and templates to raise consistency and speed
• Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline for on-brand design assets, including images, video, and motion graphics
• Use modern AI tools to accelerate output and iteration
• Partner closely with founders in NYC to set the quality bar for brand communication and execution
• Establish standards through documentation, component patterns, and creative workflows

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping polished, customer-facing web experiences
• Fluency in both design and frontend implementation
• Deep care for craft details including typography, spacing, motion, and interaction
• Ability to prototype quickly and iterate based on feedback
• Effective use of AI tools for coding and creative production
• Product-minded and narrative-driven approach
• Preference for in-person collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or extending a design system in code
• Comfort with animation and micro-interactions
• Strong writing and editorial taste for information architecture
• Experience producing brand assets using generative image and video workflows
