Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and implementation of significant surfaces of claude.com and anthropic.com, including design systems and interactive experiences
• Lead major web initiatives such as migrations, redesigns, and new product surfaces
• Define and evolve headless CMS architecture and content modeling
• Build creative tooling and internal systems like Claude-powered design tools and page generators
• Partner with Web Platforms, Security, and Growth Product Engineering on deployments and performance
• Establish technical standards for frameworks, accessibility, and code quality
• Build and evolve localization infrastructure for international markets
• Mentor mid-level engineers and contribute to hiring

Requirements

• Deep experience building and shipping production web properties at scale
• Expertise in modern frontend frameworks like Next.js and React
• Experience leading work on headless CMS platforms
• Proven track record of building internal or creative tooling
• Ability to partner across organizations with platform and security teams
• Strong sense of design craft, including typography and motion
• Experience shipping localized web properties at scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI-powered creative or developer tooling
• Technical lead or player-coach experience
• Deep experience with performance and Core Web Vitals on content-heavy sites
