Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ship features that help users develop real skill with AI
• Architect end-to-end prototypes (front-end and back-end) testing new interaction paradigms
• Define technical direction and establish patterns for the team
• Build relationships across Product, Design, and Research to influence product strategy
• Shape team strategy and roadmap by identifying high-leverage opportunities
• Translate research insights into shipped products through close collaboration with researchers
• Document and share work through clear writing and prototypes

Requirements

• 6+ years building and shipping web products
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and CSS
• Solid back-end and data pipeline experience with Python and API design
• Proven track record of driving features from prototype to production
• Strong product instincts and interface design sensibilities
• Ability to operate with high autonomy in ambiguous environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developer tools, creative tools, or learning platforms
• Background in learning sciences, cognitive science, HCI, or educational psychology
• Experience with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing
• Experience building AI-native product experiences or working with LLMs in production
• Published writing, talks, or open-source work related to human-AI interaction
