Design Drafter

Responsibilities

• Create detailed designs and drawings for High Energy Laser (HEL) weapon platforms using CAD software
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, and electrical engineers to gather structural requirements
• Interpret general designs and exercise independent judgment to complete complex details
• Calculate dimensions, weight limitations, and material requirements
• Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
• Prepare and review rough sketches and technical diagrams to illustrate workflows
• Ensure final designs comply with all relevant regulations and quality standards
• Create technical manuals describing product operation, features, and maintenance

Requirements

• Associates degree in a relevant field
• 6+ years of relevant drafting experience
• Extensive working experience with SolidWorks CAD software
• US Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant drafting experience
• Demonstrated experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME drafting standards
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and mathematical proficiency
• Ability to navigate and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with engineering teams and government customers
• Certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA)
