Design Director

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Creative Director to translate abstract themes into gameplay pillars and meta-structures
• Construct a gameplay vision that integrates thematic fantasy and narrative context into mechanical elements
• Build robust moment-to-moment gameplay, short-term hooks, and long-term retention loops
• Define clear direction and structural boundaries for the design team
• Review and validate all design work to ensure mechanic solidity, balance, and alignment with the core vision
• Direct and mentor a team of game designers from junior to senior levels
• Act as the primary design ambassador for Engineering, UI/UX, Audio, and Live Operations

Requirements

• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in game design
• Experience with at least one shipped major AAA multiplayer title in a Senior, Lead, or Principal role
• Proven experience in pre-production and defining core loops for live-service stability
• Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience managing and mentoring game designers
• Deep understanding of multiplayer architectural constraints, matchmaking, and progression balancing
• Ability to use a game editor for early prototyping and concept validation

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Unreal Engine
• Strong passion for gameplay innovation and understanding of global gaming market trends
