About the role
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime, enforce laws, and protect life and property
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Conduct investigations, identify and collect evidence, and perform surveillance
- Arrest law violators, transport prisoners, and serve warrants or orders of protection
- Perform traffic stops and investigate vehicle accidents
- Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate documentation, and testify in court
- Provide court security and act as a bailiff as assigned
- Participate in community awareness projects and preventative education programs
- Maintain patrol vehicles and equipment in effective operating order
- Act as a Field Training Officer (FTO) or assume Sergeant duties when assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of experience as a Deputy Sheriff I or two years of law enforcement experience with another agency
- Must meet all Arizona POST requirements
- Valid driver's license

Navajo County offers a comprehensive employee benefits package to regular employees working 40 hours per week. Benefits for regular part-time employees (30–39 hours per week) are provided on a pro-rated basis.
