Deputy Sheriff

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime, enforce laws, and protect life and property
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
• Enforce local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Conduct investigations, identify and collect evidence, and perform surveillance
• Arrest law violators, transport prisoners, and serve warrants or orders of protection
• Perform traffic stops and investigate vehicle accidents
• Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate documentation, and testify in court
• Provide court security and act as a bailiff as assigned
• Participate in community awareness projects and preventative education programs
• Maintain patrol vehicles and equipment in effective operating order
• Act as a Field Training Officer (FTO) or assume Sergeant duties when assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• One year of experience as a Deputy Sheriff I or two years of law enforcement experience with another agency
• Must meet all Arizona POST requirements
• Valid driver's license

Navajo County offers a comprehensive employee benefits package to regular employees working 40 hours per week. Benefits for regular part-time employees (30–39 hours per week) are provided on a pro-rated basis.
