About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform law enforcement, investigation, and crime prevention work while patrolling the county
  • Protect life and property by enforcing statutes and laws
  • Conduct patrol and traffic activities in a marked vehicle within a designated area
  • Issue citations to traffic law violators and arrest individuals committing crimes
  • Secure prisoners and investigate criminal activity
  • Gather physical evidence, including crime scene photography and latent prints
  • Interview suspects and witnesses and collect statements
  • Render first aid to injured persons and assist disabled motorists
  • Intervene in family disputes and work with social service agencies to protect minors
  • Provide testimony in court regarding handled cases

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Successful completion of the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy
  • Ability to pass a polygraph, physical exam, drug screen, and psychological test
  • Possession of good moral character and freedom from criminal violations
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform all job duties
