Deputy Regional Editor

Responsibilities

• Provide senior editorial leadership and judgement across all platforms for regional content to ensure high editorial standards.
• Monitor and sustain editorial controls to ensure regional content aligns with ABC News strategy and community expectations.
• Collaborate with Editors to drive and implement content strategies and initiatives.
• Provide specialized feedback, support, and leadership to Editors and statewide radio programming teams.
• Build a capable and motivated workforce by identifying learning and development needs for regional staff.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or significant equivalent experience in a media organisation.
• Proven track record at a senior level in content planning, development, production, and delivery.
• Outstanding editorial skills and the ability to exercise reliable judgement under pressure.
• Significant experience in leading teams, developing talent, and driving a high-performance culture.
• Highly developed relationship management skills with experience negotiating and influencing diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
