Deputy Press Secretary for Creative Partnerships & Black Media

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day execution of new media press strategy across creators, influencers, and digital-first outlets
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Black media outlets, journalists, and community voices
• Develop proactive media strategies to ensure meaningful engagement with Black audiences
• Manage relationships with creators, neighborhood pages, and cultural figures
• Integrate new media and community press into broader communications strategy
• Draft talking points, briefing materials, and Q&A for creator and community media
• Identify moments to insert the Mayor into real-time cultural and political conversations
• Manage and mentor New Media Press Assistants
• Track performance across creator partnerships and media engagement

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience in government communications, digital media, political campaigns, or creator partnerships
• Strong existing relationships with creators, influencers, or digital outlets
• Deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms
• Experience staffing principals and managing high-pressure media environments
• Strong writing skills for briefings, talking points, and pitches
