Deputy Housing Director

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to law graduates, attorneys, and paralegals
• Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Housing Law Unit
• Supervise litigation including individual/group representation in Housing Court and affirmative litigation in State and Federal Court
• Manage intake, onboarding, and training for new attorneys
• Strengthen relationships with community partners, elected officials, and community groups
• Engage in policy advocacy and community education/outreach
• Handle administrative and grant responsibilities

Requirements

• Admission to the New York State Bar
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant housing litigation experience
• Prior supervision or mentoring experience in a fast-paced environment
• Working knowledge of housing laws, court procedures, and public benefits
• Excellent analytical, persuasive writing, and communication skills
• Experience with appellate advocacy
• Ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines
