About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) initiatives
  • Identify market leaders to explore and facilitate strategic partnership opportunities
  • Pursue external funding opportunities from multiple sources to advance UAS goals
  • Monitor the higher education market landscape to shape college offerings and activities
  • Support research activities and advocacy related to UAS, AAM, and related technologies
  • Collaborate with the FAA and industry stakeholders regarding accreditation and standards
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure academic and research alignment with strategic goals
  • Track and report progress against internal UAS and AAM metrics

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience, OR a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project management
  • Background in UAS, AAM, or related fields
  • Strong people management, team building, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
  • Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a related topic with 5 or more years of experience
  • Experience in applied research and development
  • Familiarity with funding mechanisms such as SBIR, STTR, BAA, or CRADA
  • Experience with intellectual property development and commercialization
  • Traditional aviation flight experience or FAA pilot certificates
  • Experience in modeling and simulation for airspace visualization
