About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) initiatives
- Identify market leaders to explore and facilitate strategic partnership opportunities
- Pursue external funding opportunities from multiple sources to advance UAS goals
- Monitor the higher education market landscape to shape college offerings and activities
- Support research activities and advocacy related to UAS, AAM, and related technologies
- Collaborate with the FAA and industry stakeholders regarding accreditation and standards
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure academic and research alignment with strategic goals
- Track and report progress against internal UAS and AAM metrics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience, OR a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience
- Proven experience in strategic planning and project management
- Background in UAS, AAM, or related fields
- Strong people management, team building, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
- Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a related topic with 5 or more years of experience
- Experience in applied research and development
- Familiarity with funding mechanisms such as SBIR, STTR, BAA, or CRADA
- Experience with intellectual property development and commercialization
- Traditional aviation flight experience or FAA pilot certificates
- Experience in modeling and simulation for airspace visualization
