Deputy Company Secretary and Deputy Counsel Governance

Responsibilities

• Lead and strengthen the governance and company secretariat function
• Support the Board and Committees to operate effectively and with confidence
• Partner with senior leaders to provide clear, practical governance advice
• Ensure oversight of and compliance with all legal, regulatory, and licensing obligations
• Lead the evolution of governance frameworks and corporate structures to support organisational growth
• Lift capability, systems, and ways of working across the function
• Build strong relationships across the organisation and with key stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification
• Current unrestricted practicing certificate
• Strong experience in governance, company secretariat, or a regulatory environment
• Proven experience leading teams and driving continuous improvement
• Ability to engage with credibility and confidence at the Board and Executive level
• Sound judgement and the ability to balance risk with practical outcomes
• Collaborative approach and strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Company secretarial qualification or accreditation (e.g., AICD, Governance Institute of Australia)
• Graduate or Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD/FAICD)
