About the role
Responsibilities
- Shape and execute a bold strategy to transform DOHMH into an anti-racist organization
- Oversee the Race to Justice initiative to address systemic racism
- Strengthen relationships with community organizations, faith-based groups, and city agencies
- Develop and implement public health policies addressing the root causes of health inequities
- Lead a team of Assistant Commissioners and equity champions
- Represent CHECW at high-level meetings with City Hall and elected officials
Requirements
- Master's degree in public policy, sociology, education, ethnic studies, public relations, social work, public health, public administration, or a related field
- 5-7 years of managerial experience in governmental or nonprofit sectors
- 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in policy advocacy or community organizing at the intersection of racial justice and health
- Demonstrated success leading large teams and driving organizational change
- Deep understanding of systemic racism and its impact on health outcomes
