Deputy Chief Operations Officer

Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Operations Officer in overseeing and optimizing day-to-day Laboratory operations
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple functional areas to ensure operational excellence
• Drive the implementation of organizational priorities and translate strategy into effective execution
• Manage and motivate high-performing teams to support the Laboratory’s scientific mission
• Ensure administration and compliance of the contract between the Department of Energy and Iowa State University
• Implement process improvements and communicate organizational changes to stakeholders
• Steward Laboratory resources responsibly to achieve institutional goals and objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 8 years of related professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing a highly-integrated organization, including people management and administrative oversight
• Experience working with the Department of Energy (DOE) or DOE national laboratories
• Experience administering major federal government management and operations contracts
• Experience working within the administration of a major research university
• Advanced degree in business administration, engineering, physical sciences, or a related field
