About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of investigations from intake through disposition
- Guide attorneys in evidence assessment, witness preparation, motion practice, and trial strategy
- Personally handle complex and high-profile investigations and trials
- Review charging decisions and advise on legal sufficiency
- Oversee case assignments, progression, and compliance with discovery obligations
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level Assistant District Attorneys
- Serve as faculty for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs
- Assist in day-to-day management of Bureau operations, including staffing and workload distribution
- Maintain and review bureau statistics and operational reports
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree
- Minimum 7 years of significant felony trial experience
- Minimum of five qualifying matters, including at least three felony trials as First Chair
- Strong investigative background and knowledge of case development
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- New York State residency and U.S. citizenship required
