About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the professional staff of the McKeen Center for the Common Good
- Manage day-to-day office operations and serve as the primary point of contact in a high-traffic, student-centered space
- Oversee departmental budget, finances, and payroll approval for approximately 50 student employees
- Coordinate departmental events, including the annual Bowdoin and the Common Good symposium
- Maintain and develop the departmental website, social media presence, and databases
- Develop office publications and assist with general public relations efforts
- Act as a liaison between department members, other Bowdoin offices, and external stakeholders
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent typing skills with strong attention to detail, grammar, and spelling
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior administrative experience in a higher education or non-profit setting
- Experience with web platforms and content management systems (CMS)
- Experience supporting or participating in community engagement initiatives
- Experience working directly with students in a professional capacity
