Department Chair and Non-Tenure-Track Faculty, Nursing

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior academic and administrative leader of the Department of Nursing, aligning initiatives with institutional strategic priorities.
• Oversee departmental operations, including fiscal management, budget forecasting, and enrollment management.
• Support faculty professional growth, recruitment, workload management, and evaluation.
• Teach didactic and clinical graduate nursing courses in pre-licensure and MSN programs using evidence-based strategies.
• Develop, revise, and implement curriculum consistent with AACN Essentials, CCNE, and NONPF standards.
• Provide academic advising, student mentorship, and timely feedback to learners.
• Cultivate strong clinical partnerships and support accreditation processes.

Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field (PhD, DNP, DNSc, EdD).
• Active, unencumbered Illinois RN license.
• Minimum of two years of higher education leadership experience within a nursing school.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
• A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service in nursing education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential.
• Scholarly engagement in social determinants of health, health informatics, health equity, or nursing education scholarship.
