Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities

• Examine patients' teeth and gums to record diseases or abnormalities
• Remove calculus, stains, and plaque from teeth
• Perform root planing as periodontal therapy
• Take and develop dental x-rays
• Apply cavity-preventive agents such as fluorides and pit and fissure sealants
• Teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene and maintain oral health
• Perform dental procedures under the direction of a Dentist, including placing temporary fillings and removing sutures
• Prepare clinical and laboratory diagnostic tests for dentist interpretation

Requirements

• Dental Hygienist certificate, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene
• Current California Dental Hygienist License
• Current x-ray license
• Current CPR certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of dental experience
• RDH status
