Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide dental assistance and instruction to students, faculty, and patients during examinations, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
• Assist with surgery and dental emergencies while monitoring patient comfort.
• Manage X-ray technology, including taking, developing, and providing instruction on X-rays.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental equipment and instruments in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Handle administrative tasks such as patient billing, insurance forms, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient files.
• Manage clinic supplies by ordering, stocking, and monitoring inventory and budgets.
• Support Sophomore Lab courses by setting up equipment and coordinating schedules.
• Coordinate the repair and maintenance of dental equipment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of dental assistant experience.
• Proficiency in 4-handed dentistry and X-ray technology.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and sterilization procedures.
• Current Health-Care Provider CPR certification.
• Ability to tolerate long periods of bending, standing, and walking.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an academic or university setting.
• Familiarity with Marquette University School of Dentistry policies and procedures.
