Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical dental assistance to dentists before, during, and after patient treatment, including dental emergencies
• Assist faculty with compliance regarding patient treatment record-keeping protocols
• Maintain and monitor dental equipment, instruments, and supplies according to standards and regulatory requirements
• Manage instrument and equipment distribution, including the case cart system
• Coordinate the repair and maintenance of dental equipment
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records
• Attend in-service programs, dental assistant meetings, and other required committee meetings

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of dental assistant experience
• Proficiency in 4-handed dentistry and X-ray technology
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and sterilization procedures
• Health-Care Provider CPR certification
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and tolerate long periods of standing, bending, or walking

Preferred Qualifications

• At least three years of dental assisting experience
• Previous experience working in an academic setting
• Familiarity with Marquette University School of Dentistry policies and procedures
