Debate Institute Instructor

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures on topic-related materials, policy debate theory, and argumentation strategies
• Lead a lab group of students, providing hands-on instruction and mentorship
• Assist students in developing effective arguments, conducting research, and case writing
• Monitor and manage student behavior to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
• Refine students' public speaking and critical thinking skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
• 1 year of related experience
• Competitive policy debate experience (as a coach, instructor, or debater)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Proficiency in debate-specific technologies such as Verbatim
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in competitive policy debate
• College-level debate experience
• Prior experience teaching or mentoring high school students
