Dean, Graduate Studies & Research

Responsibilities

• Develop and grow graduate programs, including on-campus, online, and BS/Masters pathways
• Manage the development and execution of faculty research programs and compliance for federal and industry-sponsored projects
• Identify and develop external funding opportunities through governmental agencies, foundations, and private sector companies
• Provide institutional leadership and strategic agenda setting for research and graduate education
• Supervise the offices of sponsored research and graduate studies, including budget oversight and policy implementation
• Coordinate institutional initiatives relating to technology transfer and intellectual property

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in an engineering or science field, or an equivalent terminal degree
• Proven research and teaching track record commensurate with a tenured full professor
• Significant experience in obtaining substantial external funding to support research
• Knowledge of funding sources and regulatory issues related to grant funding
• Successful experience in budget management and strategic planning
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of administrative experience in higher education or research administration
• Proven record of developing new graduate programs or expanding existing ones
• Significant leadership experience in research and grant administration at the department level or higher
• Experience working with industry partners and recruiting international graduate students
