Day Care Teacher

Responsibilities

• Provide care and protection of children in the Center
• Supervise and manage teacher assistants and student aides
• Make daily observations of children’s health and record them as necessary
• Establish and maintain good relationships with parents and hold periodic conferences
• Provide materials and resources for exploration, learning, and imaginative play
• Organize and lead activities for physical, mental, and social development
• Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, and social development
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varying student needs and interests
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and investigation
• Attend professional meetings and training workshops to maintain competence

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1-3 years of experience in an early childhood or day care setting
• Ability to obtain 60 hours of approved training during a four-year license period
