Database Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of 6 Database Operations Engineers across three shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage
• Lead incident response coordination for critical database outages and performance issues
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews
• Oversee backup, recovery, capacity monitoring, and disaster recovery management
• Manage hybrid and cloud database infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual operational tasks
• Partner with DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering teams on infrastructure planning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• 8-12 years of experience in Database Administration
• 3-5 years in a leadership or management role
• Experience managing distributed teams across multiple shifts or time zones
• In-depth knowledge of MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Redis, Oracle, or SQL Server
• Strong understanding of AWS and hybrid cloud concepts
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems
• Proficiency with monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, PagerDuty, Grafana, or Prometheus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Familiarity with ITIL or SRE principles
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
