About the role
Responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives to deploy data and technology responsibly and ethically by providing expert advice.
- Educate and advise business units on new or existing data uses and the implementation of ethical technologies.
- Conduct privacy and AI impact assessments, identify risks, and provide corresponding recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop technology solutions that adhere to the TELUS Trust Model.
- Document, prioritize, and communicate clear privacy requirements for product initiatives and releases.
- Escalate data risks promptly and recommend effective mitigating controls to protect customer and team member data.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of industry experience in privacy, data protection, data ethics, or operational data governance.
- Demonstrated ability to implement programs related to privacy and AI laws, data ethics, and artificial intelligence.
- Proven expertise in identifying, assessing, and communicating privacy and data protection risks to stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex risk assessments into clear, actionable insights for business leaders and non-experts.
- IAPP certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism in English and French (verbal and/or written).
- Legal background or professional experience.
- Experience working within a large, matrixed organization.
