Data Scientist, Supply

Responsibilities

• Build and run testing frameworks to quantify how different inputs affect compute allocation outcomes
• Connect compute allocation decisions to downstream user outcomes like retention and revenue
• Partner with infrastructure engineers, product, and research to instrument systems and ship operational changes
• Develop metric hierarchies, dashboards, and reporting for supply decisions
• Contribute analyses and recommendations to executive forums and the CTO

Requirements

• Strong technical background in data science, analytics, or operations research
• Experience reasoning about resource allocation and trade-offs under constraints
• Working fluency with causal inference and experimental design
• Deep proficiency with Python, SQL, and data visualization tools
• Track record of owning analyses end-to-end and communicating with engineering leadership
• Direct experience working with engineering teams on production systems
• Alignment with Anthropic's mission of building helpful, honest, and harmless AI

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on data science experience
• Experience with complex systems like ad networks, payment processing, or marketplace matching
• Depth in operations research (LP/MILP, queueing, or RL-based control)
• Advanced causal-inference expertise (surrogate models, off-policy evaluation, or structural approaches)
• Experience designing experimentation platforms
• Exposure to AI/ML products or large-scale inference systems
