Data Scientist Intern

Responsibilities

• Create predictive models by mining complex data for critical formulating or testing insights
• Implement and assess algorithms using R and Python
• Research, develop, and operationalize new statistical, machine learning, and optimization methods
• Investigate applications of Cheminformatics modelling and active learning for process optimization
• Accelerate product development cycles using emerging AI methods such as LLM, RAG, and Agentic AI
• Collaborate with the Data Science & Statistics team to provide consulting services to the global technical community

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Chemistry/Chemical Engineering with data science skills
• Advanced programming skills and experience with data query languages
• Experience with predictive modeling and Bayesian approaches
• Ability to efficiently manipulate, process, and analyze data of various modalities (numerical, image, text, etc.)
• Strong interest in advanced statistical and machine learning methodology at a PhD level

Preferred Qualifications

• Dual degree students (e.g., Statistics/Data Science combined with Chemistry or Chemical Engineering)
• Experience with R/Shiny tool development
• Knowledge of optimization methods such as genetic algorithms or multi-objective optimization
