Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Apply data science, machine learning, and AI methods to analyze materials characterization data across microscopy, spectroscopy, and diffraction.
• Design, build, and deploy AI agents to automate data analysis tasks, including ingestion, preprocessing, and report generation.
• Develop scalable data workflows and agent-based systems to improve laboratory throughput and reproducibility.
• Implement agent-driven orchestration of multi-step analytical workflows for autonomous scientific reasoning.
• Perform statistical analysis, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis on experimental datasets.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to translate experimental challenges into AI-augmented solutions.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Materials Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn).
• Experience developing or integrating AI agents, automation frameworks, or LLM-based systems (e.g., LangChain).
• Experience working with experimental, image, spectral, or time-series data.
• U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Political Asylee/Refugee) due to ITAR requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with surface analysis or spectroscopy datasets (e.g., XPS, AES, SIMS).
• Knowledge of signal processing, spectral deconvolution, or feature extraction for materials data.
• Experience applying deep learning or representation learning to scientific datasets.
• Familiarity with multi-modal data modeling (image, spectral, time-series).
• Hands-on experience designing AI agents for autonomous scientific decision logic.
