Data Scientist, Completions Analytics

Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale operational datasets from completions, hydraulic fracturing, and production operations
• Develop statistical, physics-based, empirical, and data-driven models to improve operational decision making
• Conduct applied research focused on frac performance, pumping efficiency, and operational optimization
• Design and develop production-quality Python applications, analytics tools, and scalable data processing pipelines
• Translate complex engineering problems into analytical solutions that provide measurable business value
• Collaborate with completions engineers, product managers, and software teams to integrate solutions into customer-facing products

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, engineering research, or software development
• Proven experience working with oil and gas operational data
• Strong Python programming skills with experience in scientific computing libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn)
• Strong SQL and database experience, including working with time-series data
• Deep understanding of hydraulic fracturing and completions operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time operational data systems and cloud environments
• Machine learning applications for forecasting, classification, or anomaly detection
• Familiarity with geoscience, production, or reservoir engineering datasets
• Experience publishing technical papers, patents, or industry presentations
