Data Scientist - Cohort Modeling

Responsibilities

• Build predictive models and analytic solutions, specifically cohort models, to support underwriting and marketing functions.
• Identify, acquire, and evaluate data from various internal and external sources to find predictive variables.
• Collaborate on extracting and manipulating data for cohort segmentation and tracking.
• Develop cohort-based datasets by combining data from multiple sources.
• Introduce novel methodologies, algorithms, and tools to solve complex business problems.
• Communicate and present cohort insights to business partners to ensure successful project integration.
• Participate in the design, testing, and production implementation of models in collaboration with IT.
• Monitor model performance and maintain clear documentation of processes and outcomes.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues on cohort modeling and related analytics techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of predictive analytics experience, with demonstrated experience in cohort modeling.
• Proficiency with statistical packages such as Python or R, and data management using SQL.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and multivariate procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for articulating complex model results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Statistics or Predictive Analytics.
• Experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry.
• Experience with Machine Learning, AI, or NLP (text analytics).
• Familiarity with GitHub, Databricks, or cohort modeling libraries.
• Experience writing generative AI prompts.
