About the role

Responsibilities

  • Use advanced statistics, machine learning, and AI to solve complex cybersecurity challenges for government and industry clients
  • Identify areas for advanced statistical application, plan prototype solutions, and build final products
  • Co-author research proposals, execute studies, and present findings to sponsors and at academic conferences
  • Work on diverse projects including generative AI, LLMs, computer vision, multimodal AI, and agentic AI
  • Develop human-in-the-loop machine learning solutions and classifiers to identify security vulnerabilities

Requirements

  • BS in a quantitative discipline (Data Science, CS, Statistics, etc.) with 8 years of experience, MS with 5 years, or PhD with 2 years
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of War security clearance
  • Expertise in predictive modeling, data science, and/or AI & machine learning
  • Proficiency in mathematical/statistical programming (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB)
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling techniques and advanced data analytics
  • Willingness to travel modestly to support the SEI mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cybersecurity and privacy
  • Experience working with U.S. Government, FFRDCs, UARCs, or National Labs
  • Expertise in specialized areas such as NLP/LLMs, time-series forecasting, causal inference, or recommendation systems
  • Experience deploying models using frameworks like FastAPI, SageMaker, or Vertex AI
  • Experience working with big data technologies like Spark, Snowflake, or Databricks
