Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and operate large-scale distributed data systems to power Apple Ads ingestion, transformation, and governance
• Design and develop scalable, reliable APIs for critical internal and customer-facing platforms
• Lead projects from initial concept through delivery, including managing diverse stakeholders
• Implement modern data solutions using technologies like Kafka Connect, Apache Spark, and Apache Flink
• Mentor and support junior team members while engaging in daily technical work and debugging complex issues

Requirements

• 3-7 years of experience in the design, development, and operation of distributed systems
• Proficiency in Java or Scala (Rust experience is a plus)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, or Hive
• Experience with resource management systems such as Kubernetes or Yarn
• Proven expertise in designing and developing scalable APIs
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science strongly preferred
• Experience building Pub/Sub mechanisms for message flow
• Exposure to applied machine learning, analytics, and business intelligence
• Contributions to Open-Source projects like Apache Iceberg, Spark, Kafka, or Flink
