About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer and support a large-scale, distributed Splunk environment, including search head clusters, indexer clusters, and deployment servers.
- Manage the health, performance, and upgrade lifecycle of Splunk and Cribl infrastructure.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Cribl Stream/Edge, Splunk forwarders, and Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) to ingest, transform, and route logs and metrics.
- Support strategic SIEM migration initiatives, specifically routing security telemetry to Microsoft Sentinel.
- Optimize ingestion pipelines through filtering, sampling, and aggregation to drive cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with Security, IT, and Engineering teams to onboard new data sources and enforce governance standards.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies such as OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and cloud-native ingestion services.
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Splunk administration and/or data engineering in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cribl (Stream and/or Edge) or similar data pipeline/routing technologies.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Perl scripting for automation and pipeline development.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with global teams across time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin or Splunk Architect certification.
- Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, including data connectors and Log Analytics workspace management.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (OTEL) collectors and instrumentation.
- Experience with Azure Data Explorer (ADX) or Kusto Query Language (KQL).
- Experience with Splunk SmartStore and tiered storage integration.
- AWS or Azure certifications.
