About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data management strategies to support organizational goals and operational needs
- Create physical, conceptual, and logical data models
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure data integrity
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable data architectures
- Define and document data governance standards
- Perform database design and performance tuning
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional experience in data management
- 2+ years of experience writing SQL
- Proficiency in relational and dimensional data modeling, database design, and performance tuning
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in data management and SQL (for Senior role)
- Understanding of ETL processes and source/target data structures
- Knowledge of data governance principles and standards (e.g., Educause's HERM)
- Working knowledge of data warehousing design principles
- Experience in the Higher Education industry
- Experience with Ellucian Banner, Salesforce, and/or Canvas data
- Experience with CI/CD environments and tools, particularly Git
