Data Modeler

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data management strategies to support organizational goals and operational needs
• Create physical, conceptual, and logical data models
• Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure data integrity
• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable data architectures
• Define and document data governance standards
• Perform database design and performance tuning

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of professional experience in data management
• 2+ years of experience writing SQL
• Proficiency in relational and dimensional data modeling, database design, and performance tuning
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data management and SQL (for Senior role)
• Understanding of ETL processes and source/target data structures
• Knowledge of data governance principles and standards (e.g., Educause's HERM)
• Working knowledge of data warehousing design principles
• Experience in the Higher Education industry
• Experience with Ellucian Banner, Salesforce, and/or Canvas data
• Experience with CI/CD environments and tools, particularly Git
