Data Governance Leader (Deputy Manager)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
• Define data ownership and stewardship roles across various departments and geographies.
• Establish and enforce standards for data quality, metadata, master data, and data lifecycle management.
• Lead data governance councils and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to align initiatives with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with global data regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Promote data literacy and stewardship through training and change management initiatives.
• Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, maturity models, and audit readiness.
• Evaluate and deploy data governance tools such as DataHub, Collibra, or Informatica.
• Benchmark data engineering and analytics practices against industry standards like DAMA-DMBOK or Gartner.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or IT leadership.
• Proven track record of implementing data governance programs in complex, global environments.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data privacy, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead change across diverse teams.
• Familiarity with data governance platforms and metadata management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector.
• Professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP.
