Data Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Write production-quality code daily, building data pipelines and developing transformation logic
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers while remaining the strongest technical contributor
• Design and personally implement scalable data platforms on Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks
• Architect and build lakehouse and data warehouse solutions, including ingestion patterns and storage strategies
• Own complex implementation work, including difficult pipeline builds and performance tuning
• Write and maintain shared libraries, frameworks, and reusable components
• Conduct deep, line-level code reviews focused on correctness and performance
• Partner with analytics and data science stakeholders to translate requirements into engineered solutions
• Establish best practices for data modeling, pipeline reliability, and observability
• Optimize platform performance and manage costs across Snowflake, Databricks, and Fabric

Requirements

• 7-9 years of data engineering experience
• 1-3 years of technical leadership experience with active hands-on implementation
• Implementation-level expertise with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks
• Strong data architecture background (lakehouse, medallion, data vault, dimensional modeling)
• Deep proficiency in SQL and Python
• Experience building ETL/ELT frameworks using Azure Data Factory, dbt, and Spark
• Working knowledge of Azure cloud data services (Synapse, Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL)
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
• Experience in Agile delivery environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building medallion-architecture lakehouses on Databricks or Microsoft Fabric
• Experience implementing CI/CD for data pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with dbt for transformation orchestration
• Exposure to real-time data ingestion patterns like Kafka or Spark Structured Streaming
• Experience with data mesh or domain-oriented data platform strategies
