Data Engineering Lead - Postgres Sql Dba

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL (v12-v16+) databases across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud platforms including AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure, and GCP.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery using streaming replication, Patroni, repmgr, and cloud-native failover mechanisms.
• Lead incident, problem, and change management processes, including RCA preparation and adherence to ITIL practices.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to handle production incidents and troubleshoot high-severity issues.
• Develop automation frameworks using Python and Shell scripting for database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using tools like pgBackRest and WAL-G.
• Perform deep performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
• Manage database security compliance through RBAC, encryption, and auditing tools like pgaudit.
• Enable database CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Flyway or Liquibase.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, replication, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Python for building automation tools and database utilities.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven expertise managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with HA frameworks (Patroni/repmgr) and backup tools (pgBackRest/WAL-G).
• Strong experience in incident management and handling high-severity production issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of AI/ML use cases in database operations, such as anomaly detection and predictive tuning.
