Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the first scalable data warehouse/lakehouse to support KPIs
• Build and maintain reliable batch and streaming data pipelines from application databases and third-party tools
• Translate business metrics into concrete data models and schemas in collaboration with leadership
• Define and own data modeling standards and best practices
• Implement monitoring, data quality checks, and observability for pipelines and core tables
• Enable BI and data analysts through well-structured models and self-serve datasets
• Document the data platform including lineage, definitions, and contracts

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, ideally in a mid-stage startup
• Solid programming skills in Python
• Strong SQL skills and experience in data modeling for analytics
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data stacks (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks)
• Experience with orchestration and transformation tools like dbt, Airflow, or Dagster
• Experience with ingestion tools such as Fivetran, Stitch, or custom pipelines
• Proven track record of building and operating production-grade data pipelines
• Strong understanding of data quality, testing, and monitoring practices
• Ability to make pragmatic build vs. buy decisions in a greenfield environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting BI tools like Looker, Mode, Tableau, or Metabase
• Experience designing semantic layers
• Experience in B2B SaaS, specifically regarding revenue, usage, and customer health metrics
• Prior experience as an early data hire in a fast-growing startup
