Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Designing, building and maintaining reliable data pipelines and processing components
• Writing clean, maintainable code and improving performance, data quality and cost efficiency
• Taking ownership of work from development through to delivery
• Contributing to technical design, estimation and planning discussions
• Reviewing code and sharing feedback to support collective code quality
• Collaborating with project managers, analysts and other engineers
• Learning and applying new tools, technologies and approaches

Requirements

• Experience as a data engineer delivering production-ready, scalable code
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and analytical databases
• Programming experience in Python, Java, C or Spark-based technologies (PySpark, Spark)
• Experience with Databricks and high-volume data platforms
• Experience with data warehouse or analytical platforms like Snowflake or Teradata
• Understanding of performance and cost considerations in data processing
• Experience working in UNIX or Linux environments with shell scripting
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of graph databases (e.g., Amazon Neptune) and graph query languages
• Understanding of data modelling concepts
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
