Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and processing components used across the business
• Write clean, maintainable code while improving performance, data quality, and cost efficiency
• Take ownership of defined work packages from development through to delivery
• Contribute to technical design, estimation, and planning discussions
• Review code and provide feedback to support collective code quality
• Collaborate with project managers, analysts, and engineers to deliver high-standard solutions
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment and evolving requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as a data engineer delivering production-ready, scalable code
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and analytical databases
• Programming experience in Python, Java, C, or Spark-based technologies (PySpark, Spark)
• Experience with Databricks and handling complex, high-volume data
• Experience with data warehouse or analytical platforms such as Snowflake or Teradata
• Proficiency in UNIX or Linux environments, including shell scripting
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to travel occasionally to the US and Japan

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with additional data processing or integration technologies
• Experience with graphical or low-code data development tools (e.g., Ab Initio)
• Strong understanding of data modelling concepts
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
