Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from institutional source systems into the Snowflake data warehouse
• Implement and manage orchestration workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow
• Build and maintain curated data layers (staging, integration, presentation) following established architectural patterns
• Implement dimensional models and transformation logic using modern frameworks like dbt
• Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and implement automated alerting and recovery mechanisms
• Ensure data quality through validation routines, anomaly detection, and clear documentation of data flows
• Follow Git-based version control and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
• Collaborate with data owners and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical pipeline specifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data pipeline development
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake (including features like Snowpipe, Streams, or RBAC)
• Experience with ETL/ELT orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow)
• Familiarity with dimensional modeling and transformation frameworks such as dbt
• Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure data services (ADLS Gen2, Azure Monitor, Key Vault)
• Exposure to BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Experience working in a higher education, research, or public sector environment
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code concepts
• Exposure to Palantir Foundry or similar enterprise data platforms
