Data Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Manage ingestion, processing, storage, labeling, and analysis of time-series acoustic data
• Support machine learning, signal processing, monitoring, and operational analytics applications
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
• Manage metadata and annotation workflows for sensor datasets

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or scientific data systems
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation
• Experience with SQL and relational/non-relational databases
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark, Dask, or Ray
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with digital signal processing (FFTs, spectrograms, filtering)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related technical field
• Experience with MLOps workflows and machine learning data pipelines
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT)
• Background in underwater acoustics, sonar, bioacoustics, or seismic data
• Experience with scientific data formats such as Parquet, Zarr, HDF5, or NetCDF
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
