Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build ETL pipelines for AFIMSC data platforms
• Integrate data sources into cloud-based environments such as Advana, VAULT, and BLADE
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all systems
• Support the migration of civil engineering data platforms to cloud infrastructure
• Develop automated workflows for data ingestion and transformation
• Collaborate with data scientists to enable AI/ML model deployment
• Optimize database performance and implement indexing strategies
• Maintain secure data transfer protocols and compliance standards
• Document data architecture and integration processes

Requirements

• Active and maintained "Secret" Federal or DoD security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL development
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience with data pipeline tools including Databricks and Airflow
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience with big data technologies like Spark or Hadoop
• Knowledge of data warehousing and governance principles
• Understanding of DevSecOps and CI/CD for data pipelines
• Experience with advanced analytics platforms (Advana, VAULT)
• Familiarity with geospatial data integration
