Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust real-time market data pipelines from multiple cryptocurrency exchanges and data vendors.
• Manage and optimize historical data storage infrastructure, including the ingestion and normalization of tick data and order book snapshots.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers and trading engineers to deliver clean, well-documented datasets for alpha discovery.
• Build efficient data-serving layers, such as time-series databases and APIs, to handle large-scale historical queries and real-time access.
• Monitor pipeline health, implement observability, and respond rapidly to data quality issues or latency degradation.
• Evaluate and introduce modern data engineering technologies, including streaming frameworks and columnar storage formats.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, specifically building production-grade pipelines in high-throughput environments.
• Proficiency in Python and/or a JVM-based language (Java/Scala).
• Solid SQL skills for querying and transforming large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with real-time streaming technologies like Kafka or Redpanda.
• Experience with time-series or columnar databases (e.g., ClickHouse, kdb+, TimescaleDB, or Parquet-based data lakes).
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, quantitative trading, or a data-intensive technology company.
• Direct exposure to cryptocurrency or digital asset markets.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
