About the role
About the Company
Abtrace is solving one of the most complex, impactful problems in healthcare for a generation. Supporting over 500 primary care practices across the UK, we automate routine care to improve health outcomes and reduce operational burden for the NHS.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Python on AWS
- Own and evolve the data warehouse architecture toward a centralized lakehouse
- Streamline testing, releases, and the experience of adding or changing models
- Implement transformation tooling using dbt
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks across critical pipelines
- Partner with analytics, engineering, and product teams to improve developer experience
- Contribute to data security and compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR)
Requirements
- Solid experience as a data engineer or backend engineer
- Strong SQL and Python skills for large or distributed datasets
- Experience designing and operating production data pipelines
- Experience with cloud data platforms, ideally AWS
- Familiarity with dbt and orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Step Functions
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
- Ability to make architectural decisions in a small team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
- Experience with data governance at scale (masking, access control)
- Experience as an early data engineer at a startup
- Background in data quality, observability, or platform engineering
