Data Center Technician II

Responsibilities

• Install, move, and decommission hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, servers, and storage devices.
• Perform cabling tasks using fiber, copper, and other media, ensuring proper cable management and labeling.
• Utilize ticketing systems to manage tasks and provide clear, timely communication to customers.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety policies, and security policies to maintain data center standards.
• Assist with asset tagging, scanning, and documenting server installations and processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 2 to 5 years of related experience or training.
• Experience with CAT5e, CAT6, multi-mode, and single-mode fiber cabling.
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, networking components, and infrastructures.
• Ability to respond to on-call requests within 1 hour.
• Must provide own transportation and be able to travel 100% to various locations.
• Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Proficiency with standard desktop tools such as MS Office and web browsers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in Data Center technologies.
• Hands-on experience with electrical, HVAC, and data center infrastructures.
• Working knowledge of networking components including Wi-Fi.
• Certification to operate material handling equipment like server lifts or pallet jacks.
