Data Center Operator Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on rack and stack of data center equipment and structured cabling installation
• Execute copper and fiber patching, including cable termination and troubleshooting
• Install new hardware such as switches, servers, storage devices, firewalls, and routers
• Diagnose and repair server hardware in conjunction with the IT Services Desk
• Monitor data center environment including power usage, rack capacity, and climate
• Decommission old hardware including un-cabling, removal, and ecological disposal
• Manage hardware inventory and maintain spare equipment supplies
• Update rack documentation and maintain accurate data center records

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of experience in Data Center Operations or Hardware Support
• Knowledge of low-voltage cabling standards (Cat 6, Cat 6A, OM3, OM4, and single-mode fiber)
• At least one year of hands-on server and network gear installation and move experience
• Familiarity with patching schedules and IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) events
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
