Data Center Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day data center support including server and network hardware installation
• Execute copper and fiber-optic cabling and perform "layer 1" troubleshooting
• Monitor and respond to hardware and software issues using industry-standard ticketing systems
• Manage hardware lifecycle processes for servers, switches, routers, and storage
• Participate in the change management process, including production monitoring and preventative maintenance
• Maintain accurate asset management data using scanners and DCIM workflow systems
• Join an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support

Requirements

• 4+ years of Rack and Stack experience
• Proficiency in Linux OS troubleshooting and navigation
• Experience with network hardware Command Line Interfaces (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, or Dell)
• Ability to safely lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds and remain on feet for most of the workday
• Ability to respond to on-call requests within 1 hour
• Strong communication skills for documenting tickets and customer correspondence
• Experience with fiber and copper cabling (Cat6, SM/MM fiber, IB)

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Server+ or ITIL Foundation certification
• CCNA or CCENT certifications
• 1-2 years of basic Linux and scripting experience (e.g., Ansible)
• Experience with Jira or other ITSM ticketing systems
• Knowledge of DNS/DHCP and Layer 2/Layer 3 network troubleshooting
• Experience with HP, Dell, or Supermicro server hardware
